Nearly 20 Years in the Southland

Soon, we will be celebrating our 18th Anniversary in April 2026.  Our Executive Board consists of 24 active and retired members from various building trades, a member from the college teacher's union along with a registered nurse and a former State Representative with extensive policy experience.  We meet the third Monday of the month over Zoom.  We hosted several Labor 101 workshop and WCPT remote radio broadcasts to help spread our message across the area.

The Southland Friends of Labor organization is concerned with the issues and challenges facing thousands of working men and women in the southland region. Our mission is to educate and inform our local and state elected officials about the needs of the working men and women in the southland area. Part of our purpose is to work with businesses, local Chambers of Commerce and other groups on issues common to our region’s success. We believe that organized workers are good for families, businesses and the entire Southern Cook, Will and Kankakee County areas. Organized working men and women can be good partners with businesses and commercial leaders in the fight to build our region’s political influence. We look forward to meeting and partnering with all who are concerned about the future of the Southland and the men and women who do its work.
